Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima,
commemorating 1917 Marian apparitions in Fatima, Portugal to three shepherd
children Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta. Classified as private revelation, they
occurred monthly from May 13th to October 13th, culminating in the
"Miracle of the Sun" witnessed by thousands. While 1571 Battle of
Lepanto victory established October Rosary tradition, Fatima reinforced the
Rosary as a "spiritual weapon." Amidst World War I, the message was
to pray and repent to achieve world peace. Approved by the Church in 1930, the
Feast celebrates Mother’s intercession and call for conversion. Blessed

The apparitions culminated in the Miracle of the Sun, witnessed by 30,000–100,000 people, where the sun appeared to dance, spin, and change colors. The Catholic Church approved the events in 1930 as “worthy of belief.” As a private revelation and Marian title, Fatima emphasizes Rosary devotion, linking to October’s dedication commemorating the 1571 Battle of Lepanto victory.
